Alaska is HUGE and there is so much to see. Here are some of our suggestions on how to plan your trip in general. The best part about having a campervan is that you are flexible! There is no hotel reservations you need to rush to. You can use our suggestions and improve upon to suit your needs. Please note that most activities mentioned in the itinerary need reservations in advance with the providers and those prices are not included in our van rental.
5 days Anchorage – Palmer – Denali - Anchorage
Day 1
Arrive in Anchorage, Pick up the van or stay in one of our BnBs depends on your arrival time. If picking up the van early, enjoy hundreds of hiking trials on the All Trials APP, or walk around downtown Anchorage.
Day 2
Travel north to Talkeetna, an eclectic town know as the “Gateway to Denali.” Make a stop at the Matanuska Glacier. Overnight Talkeetna.
Day 3
Take an unforgettable flightseeing tour through the glacial peaks surrounding Denali. Then in the afternoon make your way to Denali. Enjoy giftshops, near by trails, ATV or rafting tours in Denali. Over night in Denali.
Day 4
Get on a morning bus tour into Denali National Park (limited space requires very advanced booking). Over night in Denali or along the way coming back to Anchorage.
Day 5
Return to Anchorage by 11am or extend another day to make your drive easier.
5 days Anchorage – Girdwood – Seward – Anchorage
Day 1
Arrive in Anchorage, Pick up the van or stay in one of our BnBs depends on your arrival time. If picking up the van early, enjoy hundreds of hiking trials on the All Trials APP, or walk around downtown Anchorage.
Day 2
Drive to Girdwood
Head out to Girdwood along the beautiful Turnagain Arm, enjoy hiking, biking and scenic tramway in the cute ski town of Girdwood. Continue drive to Seward in the late afternoon. Overnight Girdwood or Seward .
Day 3
Visit the Alaska Sealife Center, downtown Seward, and hike the Exit Glacier. Overnight Seward.
Day 4
Enjoy the Peninsula by glacier day cruise or fishing with a charter boat. Head back to Anchorage. Overnight Seward or Anchorage.
Day 5
Enjoy Anchorage before returning the van at 11am.
7 days: Anchorage – Seward – Talkeetna – Denali - Anchorage
Day 1
Arrive in Anchorage, Pick up the van or stay in one of our BnBs depends on your arrival time. If picking up the van early, enjoy hundreds of hiking trials on the All Trials APP, or walk around downtown Anchorage.
Day 2
Drive to Seward along the beautiful Turnagain Arm, then enjoy a low-key or moderate difficult on the Exit Glacier. Overnight Seward.
Day 3
Spend the day boating through beautiful Kenai Fjords National Park. During the trip you’ll see marine wildlife, picturesque sea spires, and calved tidewater glaciers. Overnight Seward.
Day 4
Travel north to Talkeetna, an eclectic town know as the “Gateway to Denali.” Overnight Talkeetna.
Day 5
Take an unforgettable flightseeing tour through the glacial peaks surrounding Denali. This afternoon travel again by motorcoach to the Denali Park area. Overnight Denali.
Day 6
Settle in for a full day exploring the stunning landscapes within Denali National Park on a guided wildlife tour. Overnight Denali or along the way back to Anchorage.
Day 7
Start the morning early driving back to Anchorage to return the van by 11am.
9 days: Anchorage – Homer – Seward – Talkeetna – Denali – Palmer - Anchorage
Day 1
Arrive in Anchorage, Pick up the van or stay in one of our BnBs depends on your arrival time. If picking up the van early, enjoy hundreds of hiking trials on the All Trials APP, or walk around downtown Anchorage.
Day 2
Drive south through the Kenai Peninsula to the artsy fishing town of Homer. Overnight Homer.
Day 3
Paddle through stunning Kachemak Bay on a midday kayak tour or book a fishing charter, then explore Homer’s many galleries, shops, and eateries in the afternoon. Overnight Homer.
Day 4
Continue your exploration of Alaska’s small towns on today’s drive to coastal Seward. Visit the Alaska SeaLife Center when you get there. Overnight Seward.
Day 5
Delve deep into Kenai Fjords National Park on a kayaking tour to Northwestern Fjord or book a wildlife watching day cruise. Here you’ll spend the day exploring the inlet’s wildlife, pristine water, and awe-inspiring tidewater glacier. Overnight Seward.
Day 6
Head inland toward the Alaska Range today, driving through spruce forests and along glacial rivers on the way to Talkeetna. In the evening take a mountain flightseeing tour around Denali. Overnight Talkeetna.
Day 7
In route to Denali National Park, make a late morning stop at nearby Denali State Park. Afterwards you’ll continue your drive north to the Denali National Park entrance. Overnight Denali.
Day 8
Get on a morning bus tour into Denali National Park (limited space requires very advanced booking). After returning to the park entrance, take a hike on one the many trails near the visitor center or enjoy a backcountry ATV tour. Overnight Denali.
Day 9
Enjoy a leisurely morning in the Denali Park area, then make the return drive to Anchorage. Make a stop at the Matanuska Glacier. Overnight in Palmer or Anchorage.
Day 10
Return the van by 11am, and have a safe flight home!
